Independent Citizens Movement (ICM) Party elected Genevieve Whitaker, Secretary of the Party’s Terri

By Susan Mann Caribbean Net News US Virgin Islands Correspondent Email: susan@caribbeannewsnow.com/caribnet ST CROIX, USVI -- On April 12, the St Croix District Chapter of the Independent Citizens Movement (ICM) Party elected Genevieve Whitaker, Secretary of the Party’s Territorial Committee, to serve as its new President. The USVI Independent Citizens Movement Party (ICM) was formed by a group of concerned citizens in 1968 spearheaded by the founder, the late Esther Brow Moorhead, an entrepreneur and leader in USVI grassroots politics. Newly elected ICM Party St Croix Chapter President Whitaker is a 25-year-old human rights attorney and activist. Whitaker, who was born on St Croix, graduated from Stetson University College of Law where she served as a Public Service Fellow, and received the Public Service Recognition Award for her exemplary service locally and worldwide, as well as Certificates in International Human Rights Law from the University of Oxford and George Washington University School of Law’s Continuing Education Summer Program, as well as a Certificate in International Humanitarian Law from Santa Clara University. Whitaker is the Secretary and Legal Counsel for the Caribbean Institute for New Humanity and is also the blog creator of “A Renewal of VI Politics.
