SENATOR GENEVIEVE WHITAKER

Greetings, I am Senator Genevieve R. Whitaker,  Legislative Secretary of the Virgin Islands Legislature, Chairwoman on Education and Workforce Development Committee of the 34th Legislature of the Virgin Islands of the United States, having been elected in the St. Croix District.

 

Thank you to my constituents, stakeholders, and the people of our community for your continued support as we strive to make our home better through sound legislation, initiatives, and programs.

 

As you navigate through this site please become familiar with the strides on my core initiatives and legislative agenda, which includes my Education Curriculum Reform in the development of curricula in marine and environmental science, equine in support of the horse racing industry, information technology, bilingualism and my continued push for the implementation of the Virgin Islands and Caribbean History curricula in our schools. In the area of economic and agriculture development, I continue to leverage support to revitalize grassroots economic development in the agriculture and manufacturing industries. Please also take the time to familiarize yourself with my other initiatives and legislations.

 

I am proud to have spearheaded the initiative to restore our youth Senate, known as the Legislative Youth Advisory Council. My staff and I welcome any discussion on legislations and laws in our community. We invite you to fill out our constituent complaint form or stakeholder form. And we will continue to create solutions to all grievances as well as continue to develop our stakeholder relationships. Thank you to my constituents who have gone through the process and I am privileged to be a part of having facilitated solutions to your pressing issues.

 

Through advocacy and a transformative working nature, we can push past the oppression of colonialism and restructure our foundation to teach our children their heritage as our community’s next leaders.
