Senator Whitaker and Staff visited King Derby’s Summer Camp on July 28, 2022. Senator Whitaker has long supported music education and our grassroots non-profit. King Derby is one of our honorable elders, a Calypso legend, who has been educating youth in our indigenous calypso for decades. We honor him by supporting the upcoming generation. “It is an honor to have done my part to support King Derby, and our youth as music is an important foundation, especially our indigenous music, and I will continue along with my team to assist our grassroots organizations through the budget process as they are deserving of the critical funds to carry out their important mandates for our youth,” states Senator Genevieve Whitaker. Senator Whitaker will continue to support King Derby and his team through their journey of uplifting and inspiring youths of tomorrow through storytelling and the art of music.
